I don't know if any of you have noticed the 'word of the day' underneath the Laurel and Hardy animation, but a new word is posted every day. It's been up three days and I have never heard of all three words so far, so it's nice to learn a new word. You can click on the link to find out what the word means
Words so far...
aliment: nutriment or sustenance. nostrum: a questionable remedy. munificent: very generous.

Well ma'am, I for one am indebted to your munificence in providing the Word of the Day link, and I'm sure it will prove to be an alimentary nostrum to those of us of limited vocabulary, in which group I include myself. Not to mention edumacational.

Well done Phoney, reminds me of being at school, when the teacher gave us a word and we had to make a sentence using it. Yours nearly makes sense lol

Scrabble words are the best, I used to play an online variant called 'wordox' now called wordsteal I believe
As it name suggests, it involves stealing words from your opponent(s) turning them to your colour to gain points
Some common words have quite exotic 'steals'
hoots for instance - you would automatically think of shoots to steal it, but my favourite was bhoots !
alone you would think quite safe, till I add ab to the front - abalone
The fun and games I had from irate players demanding to know what words meant and was I cheating?
I wasn't cheating, I just have a good memory and the ability to remember strange things, and most of these games were on a 30 second timer, so you'd have to a very fast 'googler'
But when I started playing words like iambic, lamedh, jnana, squush and epinaoi, I came in for quite a lot of flack from people who weren't as dedicated (read obsessive) as me.
I always used to say I know more non-words than real ones, I think I still do

I have been called a lot of things in my life; but at 9 stone 4, no one will ever call me avoirdupois. If everyone is like me, they wouldn't be able to say it anyway. Bloody Willie the Conk and his Normans corrupting our language.

With the sun shining in the window and the temperature ever rising in my living room; the idea of comverting my computer to watercooling, became hortatory. The deed will be done today, starting right now in fact.
