I is sat sitting here with a half pint of Tia Maria and lemonade.. Enough to ensure that I am gonna be heading for my bed long before midnight..
So what is your preferred gigglewater ?

To be honest I am not a drinker, I can go months, if not years without any alcohol, give me a cup of coffee any day. When I do go out, I usually drink white wine or an alcopop

When we go out which is rare these days actually, I usually drink lager. But on high days and holidays I quite like dry sherry. I'll probably haver one shortly.

I'm not a drinker either, although I did develop a liking for whisky when I had horrendous toothache one year ! My dad bought me a bottle for xmas a few years ago, and it just stayed in the cupboard for a year and a half before I finally gave it away.
I used to enjoy going out for new year when I was younger - all those women snogging me, great ;o)
I've just made a cup of tea and I'll probably have another before I go to bed (before midnight I reckon)

I used to drink lager Roz.. Worked at Hour Glass when Adam was a lad--Tuesday nights were sooooooooooooooooo slow I drank lager to pass the time..till it started giving me tummy ache. which was when I decided that me and the Hour Glass and lager should part company.. Whiskey is good Mikkh--in a hot toddy for a cold !! Martini and apple juive Lynnrose ? Who thought of that combination ? Snowballs yes if made at home--ice cream wwith a kick..

MARTINI® Bianco is best served with fresh apple juice, ice and a wedge of lime

Now you know one of them was Mikkh, Pepper. He doesn't look like an Hour Glass type to me lol. I'm not too keen on Martini Bianco Lynnrose, I think I would prefer dry with apple juice. And talking of Snowballs and similar, my Mum when she was alive used to make Egg Flip sometimes at Christmas. Yummy.

An eggy and alcoholic drink similar to egg nog. N.B. Be careful serving raw egg to vulnerable (i.e. the young and old).
Ingredients
4 eggs separated 4 teaspoons superfine sugar 4 tablespoons brandy 1 pint milk whole nutmeg a little whipped cream for decoration (see measure conversions for more information)
Method
- Beat the sugar and the egg yolks together. - Add the brandy and stir. - Heat the milk and pour it over the egg and brandy mix. - Whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold into the milk, egg and brandy. - Serve topped with a spoonful of whipped cream and a sprinkle of grated nutmeg.
Sounds lovely

What do you mean I don't look like the hour glass type Do you mean I don't like shapely women, or that I'm not exactly slim myself I don't like stick insect women, that's true. But I still wear size 32 jeans/trousers like I did when I was 18 (not the same pair ) It's more of a squeeze nowadays granted, but they fit - just .... and if someone offered me a drink right now, it would probably be Baileys with ice, or a decent port Cheers Happy New Year everyone ;D

I was surprised no-one had mentioned Baileys yet.. Way back when it first came out you could mix it with lemonade and it wasnt quite so heavy--now if you try it curdles..two of 'em is my limit.. Once had a recipe to make your own ! Yes thats the egg nog similar to advacaat but raw eggs are needing care.. Mikkh I dont think it was an insult--lol--the Hour Glass is a pub not an figure requirement.. My third Tia--the one that finished the bottle off--near finished me--I have to keep editing.. Have put hottie in bed and might just make it to midnight down here..my usual bedtime cup of tea willbe a no no tho' .

No like Pepper says it wasn't an insult Mikkh lol, and yes it is a pub near us. I was just making conversation really lol.
I seem to remember our egg flip having sherry in too, or maybe instead of brandy. I haven't the recipe unfortunately, although I do have her old written recipe book but It's not in there for some reason.

History of Eggnog Also known as an Egg Flip, the predecessor of today's eggnog is believed to have started life in England as early as the 8th Century. Originally a concoction made of milk mixed with alcohol, frequently beer and perhaps some spices, it was known as a posset and was initially taken for medicinal purposes but certainly by the 1550s, they had become a more fashionable drink amongst the upper classes with posset sets being a popular gift. It's possible that other parts of Europe were drinking possets too as Mary 1 of England was given a posset set from the Spanish Ambassador, though it's possible he just bought it when he arrived in England.
By the 17th century, these milk "punches" had been transformed into celebratory beverages, often used to toast the health of friends and family albeit still mainly enjoyed by the more wealthy. One reason given for its popularity was the fact that there was no refrigeration so milk couldn't be kept for too long. By this time, alcohols such as Madeira, sherry and Brandy had replaced the original beer mixer, and eggs had been added, making an altogether more smooth rich drink.
The Europeans who colonised America took the tradition with them. Although dairy produce was readily available, imported items such as Brandy were very expensive and so they started using rum which was much more affordable. Today Eggnog is synonymous with Christmas - there's even an Eggnog Day (24th December). However, some questions beg to be asked as to where this drink originated and how if got its strange name.
