Well I usually make a bit more effort, and Gordon Ramsey wouldn't be pleased with me
but tonights menu consists of a mixture of normal and sweet potatoes cut into thick crisp shape and deep fried, with Bernard Mathews turkey dippers (shallow fried) and for my 'five a day' I've gone for tinned garden peas
a real gourmets delight lol
well I hope it is, it's still cooking - or burning

I spy (in my freezer) with my little eye, something beginning with M
Mighty Cottage Pie, enough to feed two apparently, but I'm pretty sure I'll manage it on my own

As I have more time on my hands, I have been cooking alot more and trying out new recipes; plus thinking about saving money with the credit crunch of course. Anyway I have come across this Student Recipe site. I have made a few things from there and the family have been raving over my food! Tonight I cooked the 'Easy Curry' (under heading Quick Food, I used diced lamb) It was surprisingly delicious. The other meals I have made from there are the 'Corned Beef Stew' (under Beef) really lovely honestly, try it!....I am planning to make the 'corned beef casserole' this week when I get some Soy sauce. Mince and Tatties was the other success, really tasty, my daughter would eat this every night. If you try any of them, let me know which one and how you rate it. Happy Cooking!

I had 2 home made f*g**ts, mashed potato, carrots and broccoli last night. Mrs Fozz gave me one of her chipolatas as well. I had a Muller Rice for dessert. (I am dying to see what the censor/spell check makes of f-a-g-g-o-t-s.)

I don't envy the Scots who have to eat haggis for dinner today! Heard on Radio4 it's Burn's night 25th Jan. Wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim'rous beastie, O, what a panic's in thy breastie! Thou need na start awa sae hasty Instead of haggis hav' a pasty.

Haggis is nice, I had some in 'mini Scotland' (Corby) which was supposed to be from an authentic recipe (minus the sheeps stomach lining) It's just like a f*g**t - with no gravy!
Talking of which, tonights delicacy is f*g**ts and jacket potatoes with a little side salad maybe - or maybe not, let's have some real wind power and add a tin of beans
Mr Brains has helped me out with the meaty balls, but I'm doing my potatoes the real way - in the oven [no quick cook them in the microwave nonsense for me, I like my jacket potatoes to have jackets!]
..... and real butter

It's nearly ready - I'm starving
Two medium sized potatoes will be evicted from the oven soon, split and liberally smothered in Lurpak, garnished with a little mature cheddar and then joined by Mr Brains finest. I've decided to go healthy with some nice crisp iceburg lettuce, tomatoes on the vine and cucumber to accompany it - with a soupcon of mayo !
Followed by some gaviscon when it gives me indigestion later !!

Iceberg Pah! a modern pretender.....Cos or Webb are the lettuce of choice for the discerning. My salad this evening also had spring onion, cucumber, celery, radish, rocket and young spinach leaves.....dress with rock salt and a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. On top was crumbled some nice creamy Blue Stilton cheese.
On the side was butterfly chicken breasts rubbed generously with my own mix of freshly pan roasted and ground spices then griddled for a nicely seared outside and soft juicy middle......Ah! big blob of Mayo on the side.
MM that's MMmmmmmmmm

Lynnerose.. I only like plain crisps.. Cos lettuce for me every time.. At least with supermarkets they are more readily obtainable.. I wish I could be bothered cooking for myself--even when I decide on a proper Sunday dinner I usually end up with just the meat--Yorkshire pudd'n and maybe a potato or two..

Pepper, if I was on my own I wouldn't cook either. I would just eat stuff like egg on toast, a sandwich, more toast.....I used to live on Sugar Puffs once upon a time when I shared a house and was working shifts - earlies and lates...didn't feel I had time to eat anything else.
