I've used Ciao for a few years now. Mostly I earn from writing reviews for products. The amount depends on how well your review is rated by other members and how many times it is read.
The survey part can be trickier, when I get emails notifying me of a survey I'm either too late or after answering a question or 2 I'm told I don't meet requirements for that survey. Personally I got fed up with that although I did earn a little from a few surveys, I stick to reviews now.
There are 1000s of products (DVDs, music, travel, computers, shampoo etc etc) to choose from although some don't earn you money. You have to look out for the £ signs next to review title.
One downside to look out for, I once lost my balance (about £20) and any future earnings on reviews already written because I hadn't been active for a while, sorry I can't remember the time limit on that and find no mention of it on site. If I do find it I will come back here and let you all know.
They also do a referral scheme where if you refer someone and they go on to write at least 1 review you get 50p then 50% of that persons earnings for their first 6 months ( they get all their earnings ie not shared 50 50) The above link is my referral link but if thats against CIT rules then please can a mod edit to remove my affiliate ID
