Unfortunately it's not unusual to see these so called 'Gaming PC's' being advertised on eBay, which are actually old motherboards and CPU's put in a flashy new case to fool people into thinking they're getting something better. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295859931664I just clicked that one randomly, and it could have been any one of dozens more. This one particularly annoyed me though because while 4th generation Intel CPU's (We're now on 14th, with 15th due) are common in these cowboy builds, this joker has used 2nd generation CPU's he almost certainly got for basically pennies as obsolete stock. There's a good chance they actually got paid to remove them in the guise of IT recycling to make it even worse. It says 57 available with 30+ sold already, so 30+ poor suckers have basically been conned. I imagine these must be first time gaming PC buyers, because anyone with just a basic grasp of technology would avoid these like the plague. I'm actually all for re-purposing old technology to make it useful again and have resurrected many old PC's by fitting an SSD (solid State Drive) and installing Linux. The big difference is I sell these for a realistic price (mostly around £50) and explain their limitations. I've done a quick tot up of what I could build that PC for and it's under £300 (they're charging £550 if you haven't or can't click the link), but they're buying in bulk and would have paid even less than that. If you're thinking of getting a gaming PC, ask someone who knows first to make sure it's fit for purpose and worth the asking price.
