Paying homage to the grandfather of all live Linux CD's - Knoppix, but using the gnome desktop hence Gnoppix, this was one I had to have a look at.
"live" CD/DVD's are commonplace now, but back in the day Knoppix carved out a niche place in the Linux market with a system you could run directly from CD/DVD without having to install it.
Nowadays almost all Linux 'distros' offer a live version, so it had to have something else to make it stand out from the crowd.
It seems to be a strange hybrid of ChromeOS and MacOS with a bit of Microsoft thrown in there too with Edge and Teams already installed and a very Windows like logo.
At nearly 4 GB it's quite large for a Linux distro, but is also pretty minimal in terms of programmes installed. Most Linux distros offer a lot more in 2 GB or less.
With a top taskbar and expanding bottom icons, it doffs it's cap to Apple, but is more akin to ChromeOS in most other respects.
I forgot to check RAM usage, but I suspect it's quite heavy and would need 4 GB of RAM minimum. But then practically every OS does nowadays anyway, so it's not a deal breaker unless using very old hardware.
Looks slick and is easy to navigate and would definitely appeal to ChromeOS users wanting to try Linux for the first time. And probably some Windows users too with Edge being installed.
I'd have to do a lot more research before considering it as a 'daily driver', but first impressions are good.
