Took my Android Smartphone back to Factory settings, and set it back up to clean up the garbage filling up my small 32G and a nagging small quirk.
Why are they now requiring you to remove the SCREEN LOCK on the phone, before you can do a BACKUP (Waiting for backup)?? Easy enough to do, then lock the screen back up, but WHY?? Doesn't seem to be a problem just a few more steps, or is there a permanent solution?? TIA, this Youtube video was a big help, but there must be a permanent solution. TIA to ANYONE :-)

The problem with Android phones is that while they're all basically Android at heart, most manufacturers add their own customisation's and bloat (Samsung seem to be worst for this) which makes it difficult to problem solve when things aren't in the expected places.
Google (surprisingly) and Motorola are the only two who seem to stick to stock Android and don't mess about with it too much.
The backups happen automatically on my Google Pixel 4XL so I can't replicate your problem.
You should maybe consider treating yourself to a new phone with at least 64 GB of storage. Phone technology becomes obsolete far quicker than computers and it's always nice to have a new toy!

Yes 64G would be nice, but next month will only have had it one year, maybe 10 to go, LOL, I'm a DINOSAUR, and only replace when I absolutely need too :-).
But 32G is cool for one like me that does not save stuff like a bunch of photos and such.
