Paypal keep trying to persuade me to use their 'Honey' app/browser extension to automatically apply discounts on online purchases.
It's not that I'm suspicious of their motives, nor am I bothered by Amazon's warnings about it being a possible security risk - they're not exactly going to endorse it if it affects their business.
Paypal paid 4 Billion to acquire 'Honey' so it's obviously legit and it sounds very tempting, but research suggests it only works at certain retailers, so the savings aren't going to be massive.
17 million people apparently use it Worldwide, which initially sounds impressive, till you remember Billions of people use the internet and that number is only a tiny percent of possible customers.
Paypal itself has close to 400 million users/customers, so it doesn't look like it's been widely taken up there either.
I pride myself I can find the best bargains online fairly easily already, so it's a no from me.

Agreed. I try to avoid these 'Apps' as much as possible. I access PayPal online, through their web site. 'Tempting' offers are something else I can do without. Seems to me, any sales company signing up to a discount company, is probably charging more than its competitors anyway. Bit concerned, PayPal paying 4 billion for Honey though. But at this time, PayPal are the only real game in town. If they continue spending billions on the likes of Honey though, that might change.
