Hi Guys and a very Happy New Year to all.
I have TSSTcorp CD/DVD W SH-SI83L SCSI Cd Rom drive, running in Win10 and it has developed an unusual fault. Device Manager and Disc Manager show that "this device is working normally", yet it cannot read/write to DVDs. It works OK with CDs. When a DVD is in the drive, I am getting error messages either "no media" or "insert a disc and try again". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drive in Device Manager and run compatibility tests on all non-Windows applications and found nothing wrong. Although the CD/DVD drive is 10 years old, it has hardly been used with DVDs. I have used it mainly to burn software for installation. I don't know what to try next. It is possible that the drive itself is faulty, but why is it working OK with CDs and not DVDs.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Best regards,
Alex

Thank you, Merchant42. I tried that, but my system is different and the facility to "untick" the DMA is in different place. I did it and it had no effect. Still cannot read/write DVDs. It seems that this has something to do with the Windows update and the Windows team claim to be working to resolve this in a future update. However, it is good to know that buying a new CD/DVD drive is not a solution, so I live in hope!!! Thank you again, Alex
