Hi All, My wife runs all the local Church 'hall use' bookings and I set her up with Essential PIM which worked fine for a while but in the last year has twice lost all her data. Yes it was backed up. So can anyone recommend a reliable desktop calendar where she can for each day, add a number of bookings with times and be able to colour code them. I have seen a number online but without downloading each one and checking it out it's difficult to see how useful the program is.

Thanks for the link. The Lightning Calendar seems a possibility so will download it on to an old laptop to check it out.

The Lightning Calendar is an extension for Thunderbird email client and Seamonkey browser. My past usage of this calendar with Seamonkey shows it do not have colour coding entry support which is one of your requirement from your initial posting. A possible calendar may match your need is Uk's Kalendar. www.ukrebs-software.de/This is a standalone Windows application without the use of a browser. I can post screen shots of both application for your consideration if you like in about 2 hours time since I am not currently at my PC.

I was wrong in my previous post about Lightning not supporting colour coded entries - it does by selecting different Category. Screen shot of Lightning: When double click on a day you want to make an entry a popup window appears: Whatever in "title" box will appear in the calender entry. The "category" allow you to colour code your entry (but not what you may expected). The entries in "description" box will appears in the popup when you mouse over the calendar entry. This is what a sample entry looks like in Day view: I don't use Thunderbird so I can't comment on it but for Seamonkey you will need Lightbird extension as well as Lightning extension. You may have problem getting the Lightning extension because the repository always the version of lightning is not compatible with your version of Seamonkey even though you have just download and installed the latest version from Mozilla seamonkey home page.

Kalendar screen shot: When double click on the day required for making entry a popup window appears to allow entry: You can select different colour for your entry as well as attach an icon for each entry. When mouse over the calender day all entries on that day appears on a popup windows and will disappear when mouse moved to different day. The action tab allow you to run a command or open a document when the intended event is triggered. WARNING: If you have selected an entry but not open for editing, pressing delete will remove that entry and there is no confirmation asking if you really want to delete that entry. This program is also available via Majorgeeks: m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/uks_kalender.html
