Got myself a nice bargain from Ebay - a Dell T3400 workstation for £34 post free It's old by today's standards and it's really heavy, but a dual core CPU, 2 GB RAM and a separate graphics card means it can cope with Windows 7 (and Linux) easily After I received it and installed Windows 7 (it just came with an empty 160 GB hard drive) I noticed it was only a 2.66 Ghz CPU and the listing said 3 Ghz I wasn't too bothered because the seller had the exact same item(s) on a 'buy it now' price of £79.99, so I'd already got it under half price and the difference between 2.66 and 3 is not that much really in real time use. I was going to let it go, but as the title says, if you don't ask.... long story short, he's sending me an extra 2 GB RAM to make up for the listing error Now it's an even better bargain, happy days

Even better, just received the parcel from them - they don't hang around This PC can accept standard non error checking RAM as fitted to most PC's or ECC normally fitted in servers for better reliability. It came with 2 GB of server RAM, so I was expecting 2 GB of the same because you can't mix and match, it's one type or another I eventually opened the parcel (they go a bit overboard with the packaging) and saw 4 sticks of RAM. This surprised me because it only has 4 slots and I had the horrible feeling he'd sent 4 x 512 MB meaning I could only use 2 of them I grabbed my magnifying glass to help my ageing eyes read the labels and they are matching 1GB standard RAM sticks Wow, that's above and beyond what I expected and a very generous gesture on his part. Also a very wise move ensuring it doesn't clash with existing RAM I remember the original RAM scored a reasonable if not spectacular 5.5 in Windows experience index - not too bad considering it's error checking capabilities So, out with the old and in goes the 4 new sticks and I switch it back on. Dell helpfully informed me my system RAM had changed and told me I needed to press F1 to continue. Windows loads and I go to system properties to make sure it's all recognised - all good, apart from I installed a 32 bit version of Windows, so it couldn't use all 4 GB Into Windows experience index and the speed had increased to 6.2 Well done Systemsupplyindustriesltd, one very happy customer
