My broadband usage has soared since I installed Win10. I suspect that Microsoft is intalling updates automatically and I cannot find a way to turn them off and restrict them to post-midnight when I am on unrestricted bandwidth. My computer has no facility for WiFi connection, so I use ethernet cable. Any adivice will be most welcome. Thanks, Alex

Thanks you. That's really useful.
Personally, I will keep it bookmarked for now. I did some adjusting recently and within a few days, M$ downloaded a critical update which resent everything.
I know quite a number of people are dumping or thinking of dumping W10 because of the way these updates are working. I think mikkh is for example. I don't personally have that choice and in any case, since my PC is new, I'm not as badly affected as some. I also don't have a metered connection.
Frankly, given the problems of users such as alexham36 and a significant number of US users who also use metered connections, I wonder if M$ has really figured this thing out.

Thank you merchant42. My problem is that I am running 2 Win10s. An upgrade from Win7 and a clean installation from MajorGeeks, so I think I am getting double updates. Thanks again, Alex

Are you running them on the same HardDrive ? If so why ?

No they are on different HDs. The upgrade from Win7 still runs some older applications, whilst a clean installation from MajorGeeks on a SSD will not run them. Iam also running PCLinuxMinimeOS on a partition on the same drive as the Upgrade Win10 and Puppy Linux on a USB Stick.
