The older I get, the more like Victor Meldrew (minus the silly accidents) I get
I've just clicked 'Technology' on the BBC web site, and one of the main headlines reads....
"Apples (Steve) Jobs admits poor health"
I found myself thinking - so what ! Is it going to affect technology (Mac flavoured at least) that much, even if he dies ?
That might sound a bit callous, but why do I, or the rest of the world, want to know about the state of his health? Is that technology news?
And why is he loathe to admit it in the first place? Was he worried a thousand Mac devotees would do something rash with a Mac Mini upon hearing the plight of their leader?
Sheesh
... I'm off to find some 'real' news to read

mikkh
I thought exactly the same thing to be honest.
I don't understand the facination for these people.
I can understand concernes about the likes of Stephen Hawking simply because he is still doing so much work and if his health does fail, that work will be lost.
But surely Mr. Jobs and people like him are just very successful business men. Their companies will survive. Everyone dies eventually.
If they find it sad, then perhaps they've spent their lives studying the wrong subject!

Yes, I have been promoted - for services rendered to Linux, not because I'm nearly 50 you cheeky sod Nocky :-p
Jojo - Great minds think alike - but so do empty ones (as my mother used to add to that saying)
Lynnrose - I look even hotter now, mostly because of the thick jumper and wooly hat though
Lazy - your appreciation of my attempted humour is gratifying, but you shouldn't encourage me, or I'll waffle on for hours

Jojo,
Stephen Hawking is another Einstein; he comes out with things that are so ridiculous, no one can prove him wrong. If he fell down one of his black holes tomorrow, nobody would notice his passing and mankind certainly wouldn't be worse off. They spend all this money researching the ridiculous, instead of spending it on something useful. If Stephen Hawking lives for another 1000 years, he wont stop the sun from burning up all its planets one day. All the money that is wasted on looking for little green men, could easily feed the starving millions. I for one dont care if mass can bend light, as long as I have a shilling to put in the meter.
