I have Epson Stylus Office BX535WD, which has worked perfectly in Win10 upgrade from Win7. In the past 2 days the printer has continued to work, but the scanner freezes and cannot be removed from the monitor without a restart. I can have as many scans as I like, but once I click on <Close> everything freezes. I can continue to use the computer, but it is annoying to have the Scanner application stuck on the monitor. Rebooting clears it, but that is a bit of a bind for me, so if no one has any suggestions as to how to remove this "bug" I am tempted to say that the Win10 upgrade from Win7 is a dead loss. By the way, I am also running a clean installation of Win10 from MajorGeeks on another HD and there the printer/scanner works perfectly. That leads me to conclude that the software is not incompatible with Win10, but that is just using logic, which is not the same as technical know how. The printer/scanner is connected via WiFi and it also works well in Linux-Minime and Puppy.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks,
Alex

I know this probably sounds silly, but you did remember to install 64 bit? My upgraded Win7 to Win10 is 32bit, but the processor is 64bit. I did uninstall all Epson software and re-install from the original CD but I do not remember if there was an option to install 32 or 64 bit. However, as it does not work, it can do no harm to try it again. But should I be installing 64bit on a 32bit OS? Alex

Try again by all means. The option should be available, but you may need to keep an eye open for it. It has been available for all M$ OSs since XP. If I may, can I suggest you download and burn a copy of W10, then run it, selecting repair. You may be offered an upgrade then. However, if it isn't, then don't worry too much. What I was getting at is the actual version of the Epson drivers. I assumed you have 64 bit anyway, which on reflection was a bit silly. Sorry No, you install the version suitable for your particular system. But keep at it. As O said, my printer is HP but I had exactly the same problems, getting my scanner to work. When I did, I was pleased to discover that it is actually better than it was before! (Though my increasingly ancient eye sight may be deluding me to some extent.) A few links which may be useful, or not. Have a look anyway. www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/SupportWindows10.jsp?UseCookie=yeswww.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?infoType=FAQs&oid=279863_2

Thanks, Jojo. I uninstalled and re-installed the software. There was no option to choose 32bit or 64bit and, regrettably, the result is still the same. As soon as I try to close the application it freezes and cannot be moved except by rebooting the computer. My guess is that there is something in Win7/Win10 update that makes it incompatible, but I see no point in repeating what I have already done twice, so I shall go into one of the other O/S when I need the scanner. Thanks again, Alex

See what you mean. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I'm really just feeing my way around as you are.
It is terrible that we are being forced to accept such nonsense. It seems hardware manufacturers have been completely caught off guard with Windows 10.
Just a thought. And this is way out there, no guarantees, ect.. If you buy or have a spare drive, blank, you might download Windows 10 64 bit. swap the drives around, isolating your existing drive completely for a moment. Then install Windows 10 64 bit and enter your current reg code.
It's a bit of a bother of course and you might find your code won't work anyway. If it does, you may still find your Epson Scanner drivers don't work because of some hardware compatibility problem.
But if you have a bit of free time, it might be a laugh.

Well Guys, my problem has been solved. In desperation I sent a tweet to Epson website and they replied just now with the URL of the new driver. I installed it and the scanner now works, or to be exact, it allows me to close the application without freezing everything. I still do not understand why I should have had problems with the Win10 upgrade from Win7 and the clean install of Win10 worked OK from the start, but one cannot have everything!!
