I run PCMinimeOS on a windows partition shared with Win7 and suddenly today I am not able to log on. I stops with Local Host Log on and then refuses my User Name and Password. Any ideas? Alex

Further to earlier email, this is what I get, but it does not mean anything to me. Is there a way to save the O/S or should I just re-install. But I would like to know what caused this fault, because I am reluctant to spend time re-installing all the applications, if it is likely to happen again. Many thanks, Alex

Further to earlier emails, I have finally got PCLinux-MinimeOS working as it should. It was the new graphics card that caused the problem. I went to the PCLinux forum and they told me to download NVidia latest driver in synaptic and then reset the display in terminal. It worked and I enjoyed the experience, but it is interesting that the humble Puppy-Slacko did not need any of this.

Sorry, I've been busy recently. Just catching up on posts and saw this had my name on it - literally
The login that failed was the X server (graphics basically) your username/password has already been accepted before it gets there.
As soon as I read the first post I guessed you had a new card or you old one had developed a fault, having experienced similar problems myself in the past.
PClinuxOS uses a very specific full featured driver, whereas Puppy uses a generic slimmed down version - usually the 'Nouveau' one for Nvidia cards, which is why it didn't suffer the same problem
