Hi LR. Right have tried that, all ok upto ..check properties
which takes me to..connection SSID NETWORK TYPE NETWORK AVAILABILITY
OR CONNECT TO.. CONNNECT TO A PREFERED NETWORK CONNECT EVEN IF NOT BROADCASTING NO MENTION OF ICONS
Just a thought..i`m on Vista, if that makes any difference

I have XP, but do have Vista on my laptop which I shall look at if the following does not work for you...
Right-click anywhere on the taskbar, Properties, Notification area tab and the Network checkbox is what you're looking for

Hey Copey....nothing is more important than you ...have you tried taking the tick out, clicking ok and then opening again and putting the tick back? ...or do you mean that the checkboxes are greyed out so that you can't do anything?

I find icons sometimes don't start when they should. Try shutting down and restarting explorer. Right click your taskbar and select task manager, then in processes select explorer.exe and click end process - your taskbar will now dissapear. Then still in task man click applications and select new task, and in the window that pops up type explorer.exe and OK it. Your task bar will return, and with a bit of luck your missing icon will reappear in your system tray.

Sorry, I replied from the 'last 100 posts' view lol, and didn't see most of the replies til after I posted. But it's not the same fix anyway, so hopefully one of them will work.

Well, after all that I did a system restore (from 2 weeks ago,) had a bit of a prob last week, so I skipped that week and low and behold it has returned, both those "greyed out " boxes are now showing again ok. I dont know what to say..... Other than thanks to everyone with helping out AGAIN... You`ve all done very very well..Must admit I prefer this site layout better than the other one...

Darn, you took the easy way out, you were meant to struggle a bit with all the tips from Roz and I and then we would have told you to do a system restore;)
