Error 1618

Java wants to update, but I keep getting error 1618 as a fault that stops it.

May I suggest you uninstall Java using this: www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/iobit_uninstaller.html ?

Run this: www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/ ?

Then run this: www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/ ? (IT takes a while and looks like nothing is happening. Just be patient. On a big drive it can take 30 mins).

Then this: www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ ?


Finally, reinstall Java.

They're basically saying we'll scan for free, but charge you for fixing and 'for as little as' implies a basic or limited number of fixes than can be cured by paying even more

AVOID there are plenty of free fixes, and according to a bit of research I did the error stems from a Windows update anyway - no surprise there
