Hello Pepper,
This has been done so many times but!
Firstly she will have to go to the makers website and download the XP drivers for her model of computer, and burn them to disk or put them on a memory card. Her Vista drivers wont work with XP. Without the network card driver, she wont be able to get online to get them later.
Stick the disk in the coffee cup holder and reboot the computer. It should try and boot from the disk; but if it wont, she will have to reboot and push Delete or whatever the F number is to get into BIOS. Then set the boot order to CD/DVD drive as first boot.
Right, now it will ask her to push any button to boot from the disk. It will then load all the files until it gets to the point where it will ask her what she wants to do and she should click Install Windows. She will have to push F8 to except the agreement. It will then look for installed versions of Windows and promptly tell her that she has a later version installed and it cant be done. She should then tell it to delete the C: drive and push D to confirm it. Then tell it to install on the free space left by the delete, it will format C: and go into install mode. Then she just have to follow the directions, put in the key number, UK time zone and language. When it finishes she will have to answer a few questions to get into Windows. Tell her not to bother trying to unlock it, as it wont be online yet and she should just click Skip.
Once she is into Windows, she will need to install all the drivers from the disk she burnt. They might be zipped files when she downloads them, she should unzip them before burning them to disk and burn then naked. The installation wizard will find the right ones if they are ordinary .exe files, but it wont if they are zipped up.
I think thats about it really. If you have got any questions ask someone else, I've just worn my finger out.

I'm over doing it Lynnrose and I'm on the verge of a heart attack. This is my 8th post in only 3½ years, I can't keep up that sort of a pace for ever.

Your welcome Pepper.
Just double click um and they unzip and a naked .exe file will pop out.
I've had too much going on, to mess with jiggies at the moment. I will get back into it shortly.

Regarding the XP Drivers on a Vista PC, I have found that if there is a D; drive set up under vista then this may contain the XP drivers as well as Vista Drivers. Its certainly true for my Medion Laptop Graham

And then she goes on to say.....wait for it..
I've been racking my brains wondering where my coffee cup holder is, Lester (grandson)has just pressed a button and shown me and then collapsed laughing when I said what a natty idea it was to supply somewhere for your coffee cup.
