I would like to set up a USB webcam on my laptop which is HD and has extra facilities over and above the built in camera which currently takes precedence. I am unsure how to do this and keep a choice between the two and would appreciate some advice please.

The web cam software should install automatically.
The to choose input from the external, click Tools, Options, Video Settings. There is a tab there to select the cam settings and if you have more than one cam available, there should also be somewhere to choose which.
Remember also to get your Audio input right. Most external cams have a microphone. If you need to use that
