I have been using 2 email addresses for over 10 years and although I now have another on broadband, I am still collecting mail from these addresses, both on Freeserve.
Both are absolutely flooded with spam and, on advice from ISP's support, I set up filters so that messages without my full and correct address are to be sent to the deleted folder. I checked the ISP's website to see how many spam messages ended up in the deleted folder. In the 5 days to 7th December there were 2,589!!!!!
At last I have a way to stop spam messages, but can anyone tell me why are messages with addresses similar to but not identical to mine being sent to me in the first place?
Regards,
Alex

Alex - this phenomenon is know as "spidering" Hackers etc: have sophisticated searching tools that seek out domains (the bit after the @ and they can put what they like in there which may include your name or part thereof.
