I have recently purchased the Samsung D3 2TB External Hard Drive and I have added one file so far as a trial and this works fine. However the option to set up a password in the "secret zone" is not obvious which rather defeats the object.
I would appreciate any advice to solve this enigma?
Thanks for the clarification, I also have had a Samsung 1TB portable USB drive for quite some time and I decided to delete all the pre-installed software and I use it simply as another storage system with no adverse effects. I have installed a free standing encryption program instead.
Incidentally, I was using what I thought was an encryption program, idooFileEncryption, and discovered that the file can be easily read using Safe Mode!
I tried a few others and found the same problem. But some are very effective. These all tend to take a while to encrypt though.
If you have a decent one I'd love to hear about it.
Like yourself I have tried several encryption programs and they can be very complicated. I use one called "Folder Lock" which actually is not free, but is an excellent program.
A FREE program called "Yadabyte Disc" is pretty good and dead easy to use too. It is not particularly good for large files since it can takes a while to complete, but it is successful.
I have both of those programs installed on my main desktop PC. "Folder Lock" is around £25 depending on which version one chooses, there is a limited duration version and a so called everlasting version and at the moment they are offering a discount.

mikkh: It was pretty easy with the help of vapes, which I've dabbled with for years but never really stuck to full time - till now. One bad habit for another maybe, but I feel healthier and it's definitely a lot cheaper.

Lynnrose: Congrats Mikkh! Were you one of the lucky ones and stopped easily, or was it hard work?
