I am running OSLinuxPC and whenever I run update in Synaptic I get a message that I have multiple versions of digicam; kde-graphics-kolourpaint and several others and that these will not update correctly unless I remove one version. Unfortunately, it does not tell me how to find and remove these duplicate applications. Can anyone help, please? Many thanks,
Alex

If you mean PClinuxOS, there's a utility called dupeclean-gui in the 'software center' menu entry Never used it, but it's purpose is to remove duplicates apparently Just used it, or at least started it - looks like exactly what you need

Thank you Mikkh. Just run dupeclean and it created 293.0 MiB more space on root and confirmed that I could run update in Syanptic. Marvelous. Thanks again. Alex

Glad it worked for you and kudos goes to PClinuxOS for providing the cure internally along with other distro specific handy tools like 'toggle cashew' to get rid of that annoying thing top right on a KDE plasma desktop and the excellent 'redo MBR' for getting your boot-loader back when Windows or another Linux has trashed it. Along with a lot more little gems that puts it head and shoulders above other Linux 'distros' Hoorah for PClinuxOS
