I remember, back in the mid 60s, Edward Heath criticised the latest combo to hit the charts, something called The Beatles, for suggesting, She Loves You Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. He claimed they should have said Yes, Yes, Yes. Now I thought he was an old foggie, at the time, didn't understand and I swore I would never do that. Two of my nieces, (and it seems, all of their friends), are currently raving about some new hit by some guy called Chris Brown, singing a little number called Loyal. I don't like the music. I don't like the set and I find the lyrics offensive. www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chrisbrown/loyal.htmlBut dammit, I promised myself I would be tolerant. And tolerant I will be. If it kills me. Addition. Seems he's reached no. 10 on the BBC. www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singlesNo.5 in MTV www.mtv.co.uk/music/charts/the-official-uk-urban-chart

You can make an exception for that pathetic excuse for a human being, this is the same Chris brown accused of assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna and a fan in separate incidents - along with many other 'misdemeanors' 58 million hits on youtube is a sad indictment of today's youth IMO. It's not my kind of 'music' either and I use the term (very)loosely, it sounds pretty generic like hundreds of other similar 'tunes' and I can only surmise the bad boy image is popular for some twisted reason.
Needless to say in the history of music, the beatles will be remembered and this clown will not

The problem I'm having is deja-vu.
I'm in a difficult situation where I just don't understand any of it. It's violent, offensive and seems to represent the opposite of everything, either of them and almost all of their friends I have met.
I generally think of myself as so open minded to new ideas in music.
How old are we? I feel like I've missed the bus.
Thanks for the reassurance mikkh. At least I'm not the only one.
I saw the Chris Brown act in a link of one niece's Facebook page. I left a comment, Perhaps you need to be under 35. I was kinda lost for words.
