I've been getting a problem, as if my screen isn't refreshing. Chrome pages become blank. The task bars above any open windows, no matter what the program, disappear and the machine stops working.

The only solution is a restart.

I have checked my Event Viewer before and after. Before, nothing shows up. After the restart, these two errors are shown. The same each time.

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 80070422 from line 44 of d:\comxp_sp3\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

AND

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x80040206.

I have both the COM+ and VSS turned off in Component Services. This is recommended by a number of places and has been this way for some time now. As it was with previous installations.

I could do with some advice.
