I lost my Internet connection at about 11.30hrs last Thursday. So, I was forced to use 56K Modem until the fault has been fixed this morning. First I tried Puppy and it connected to the modem easily and so did Win7, PCLinuxOS did not recognize the modem at all. Sending and receiving emails was easy, but the dial up connection was too slow for anything else, so I could not you for help. When the engineer came he found the fault at my local exchange and described it as "self-inflicted". Aparently, another engineer was doing some work installing fibre line and connected my copper to the fibre box. All is well now.
