IDE Connector

H!,

I have got a new Computer and it has only got one IDE connector now i no i can put a H/Drive and a DVD/CD onto one connector BUT the cable is not long enough to do that without doubling the cable over then it is to small (The Cable that is) to reach if you see what i mean?

Can i put the top cable connector (which i normally put into the H/Drive) in to the CD/DVD drive and the middle cable connector which i normally put into CD/DVD Drive into the H/Drive?

Confused so am I.

Yes its OK except if you have cable select set on the DVD and Hard drive, you should change the jumpers then to Master on HD and slave on the dvd drives

Or just treat yourself to a SATA DVD, they're cheap enough

Yes i have got to setting up the bios i have not installed XP or Linux Mint yet just haveing a rest from it as it's doing my head in. (

I will let you now when it's done. It only use to take me two hures to sort out a PC and i got this one on Monday 5th

Yes i was going to get a SATA H/drive i did not no you can get Sata DVD/CD Drives but i have not got any cash left at the moment (

Well I have just set-up Linux Mint and all seems well going to put XP on tomorrow. ;D
