Kindle Fire HD - Amazon Prime Video Streaming

As you know, I have a Kindle Fire HD.
I have been doing alot of research on it, as I haven't used it as much as I should have, since I bought it.
I have been determined to find out how I can get some programs on it to watch on a long plane journey.
I have sorted that by using a YouTube app...

We watch alot of films, buying DVD's...cheaper than going to the Cinema, but being aware of Netflix, LoveFilm etc it's not something we wanted to get into, so I thought, right time to buy a Smart TV....

Then I saw the article in the Daily Mail ref Amazon

Sooo.....I spent most of today researching connecting my Kindle Fire HD to our TV, popped to Tesco, bought a Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable and hey presto, works perfectly.

On Wednesday 26th Feb, the Movies and TV will become available
Bonus....I have just joined Amazon Prime for £49 instead of £79 and get a month's trial first

Been looking at the Fire.

How good is it with SKYPE?

I read some reviews and they weren't very positive, but this isn't always reliable. The main bugbear most expressed seemed to be that the SKYPE software doesn't work with the Fire.

Do you have any experience using SKYPE with Fire?

Hi Jojo,
No, sorry, I don't use Skype on it. I just use it for their Prime TV. It is always set up to the TV now.
I use my iPod Touch for webcam chat via Facetime.

Love Amazon Prime.
I have it set up on my Kindle Fire
The K Fire sits permanently in a wall fitting behind my TV and is always attached to the TV, so when we want to watch something, just choose film/TV program and off we go.

As for Prime itself.....
The only thing I am disappointed with is availability of 'must-see new' films once released to the public. I thought they would all be on the Prime service straight away.
Also, if there is a film I want to see, I check with Tivo (virgin media) first as sometimes it is cheaper to watch via Tivo
EG. for one film, only option on Prime was to BUY it, whereas on Tivo you could RENT it instead, so therefore cheaper on Tivo.

Not everything is free on Prime...they do have some decent box sets/series for free as well as some films and also some are exclusive to Prime.

I'm with Virginmedia, and use Amazon a lot more than usual, so Prime would be beneficial and box sets, sounds good to me. Haggis

I found that quite a few films on amazon prime were foreign and had subtitles

Hi benrymnd,
I still have my Kindle Fire set up as previously mentioned. I rarely use it for Amazon's films.
At the moment, I watch Vikings (fab series) and Bosch through Amazon.

Took the Fire on a mini break the other week with an HDMI cable, so we could watch a couple of series I downloaded if we fancied it, so still useful for me.

I have had prime for years, but I have only just got a Fire HD 8. Not the fastest tablet, but it's not that bad and I am using it to write this post. The sounds are good, it's stereo and not mono like the Fire. I blew my router up and I am using a slow connection, I am waiting for a high speed router modem and a TiVo box in about a weeks time, then I will try out the movie's. 
The Silk browser works fine and connects to my MSN by default, I read my Hotmail though MSN. 
One thing I can say about it, its a bloody sight better than Windows 10.

I had the prime service and got into the Bosch series then I think it was the 3 rd series amazon stated charging for it also a lot of films are foriegn with sub titles, to many things on amazon prime that you have to pay extra for so when my membership ran out I didn't renew.

I am still with Prime, but hardly ever use the video/series/movies service
