Hi,
I downloaded Malwarebytes and did a few scans with it, but it was a Trias version and about to expire. The scans did not pick up any serious Viruses, just a few PUP files. I like the app, but I think it does nothing more than Microsoft Security Essential that I also use. Is there a free version of Malwarebytes, or can I simply re-install when the current one expires?
Thanks,
Alex

Everyone except you uses the free version Alex, I think you didn't untick the box or something. I think if you let it run out, you can continue on using the free part without having to reinstall. Otherwise uninstall and install the free version, making sure you dont tick the box for the trial.

Yes, enable free trial of Pro version is ticked by default, which is a bit naughty Read before pressing next, you can save yourself a lot of bother that way.
Always pick custom install too if it's an option - never EVER press express install either, or you're just asking for trouble

Well, I have tried several times and the only version of Malwarebytes that I can get is the Trial one. My current installation expired, but it seems still to be working.

I've just had a look around the usual suspects, Alex, and it does seem that MWB has finally dispensed with the free version. If you go onto filehippo.com there is a link there for a free download, but it looks like there's gonna be some baggage with that one. Have a look at this one: download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol;1 - it seems kosher enough, and if you read the blurb it seems it's still free and updateable.

www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/seems fine here, just remember to untick the box where it says 'enable free trial of pro version' I've just installed it with no problems in my XP virtual machine

I have very slowly been reinstalling my old laptop, in case my granddaughter wants it. I hadn't installed MBAM, so I installed from Mikks link without any bother. There is only one box out of 3 to untick, the top one. Everything else is straight foreward.
