Yo people; I'm in a bit of a quandary at the minute, as I saved a load of .iso files some years ago that I'm now looking to mount and burn to DVD; burning isn't a problem as Nero will do that, but to make it bootable it has to be mounted, then burned. I used AVS Disc Creator free edition up to last year, but sudenly the free edition is stictly limited in what it will do, and how much data it will burn in any one session. Does anyone know of a good, free disc manipulation programme that works?

Hi JB Not sure what you mean by mounting the ISO file in order to access the file as I thought after you burn the ISO to CD/DVD you can access the files. However, there is a program call Magicdisk that allows you to mount an ISO file and then access the files in the ISO as a virtual disk drive. The URL is: www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-magicdisc-overview.htmThis program is apparently free so you may want to give that a try if that is what you want to do. I have used this program to test Linux distros ISO file to be install on VirtualBox just to try out the distros without having to burn it onto CD/DVD. Rgd Hawnik

Not sure what you're trying to achieve - you want to transfer several CD ISO's to a DVD and then make that DVD bootable or just burn ISO's?
The program Buzzy mentioned is a decent free program for burning ISOs and the other usual tasks like making an audio CD etc. An ISO is a complete image, so if the original CD/DVD was bootable, then the ISO file will be too once you've burned it

Well chaps, what I've got is several gigs worth of downloaded programmes that are in .iso format, and I need to mount them onto DVD so that windows can actually "see" the files; from there it's easy enough to spot the 'setup.exe' file and use that to install the app. Am I making any sense here? LOL!

Thanks, Mikk; I've DL'd it and it works very well on all three Home PC's, no problems. One of the main reasons why I was after a mount/burn programme was because like most people, if I find a programme that works well, I like to burn it to disc so that I can install it on future editions of Windoze or Linux without having to go down the download torrent/ mount/install routine every time. With a slipstreamed CD/DVD I can install them on just about anything; the other beauty of doing it that way is that I can save all the install files onto a USB stick and install from that - but to do it the files have to be (a) readable and (b) all contained within the same folder - which is the way they are arranged on a disc. Mikky, I'm no geek, believe me - I'm just an old mechanic who tends to follow straightforward logic; if what I'm doing doesn't follow that logic, I'm buggered! Thanks, mate.
