Question from twptaff.............
Hello all, just dropped in to see who was about. I need to pick someones brains about pics on my 'puter. I went on holiday, saved piccies on a memory stick, downloaded them and then downloaded more from my camera. Now for the nasty bit......the pics have overwritten and what I see as a thumbnail is not what opens. I'd love to separate the files and have both pictures. Does anyone know how ? Very strange.
Can you upload one of the offending pics here?
I may be wrong but I have a feeling the address the thumbnail is pointing to may be the problem.
If so, I don't know what to do about it.

Have you deleted the pictures from the external media??? I'm not quite sure why its behaving like it is, but I've got a feeling you have downloaded shortcuts and not the pictures. Without the external drives in place the shortcuts should lead to nowhere. If you still have the originals, delete those and download the pictures again. I dont know how you downloaded them to your computer, but I would do it different next time. I prefer to open the picures to see if they are any good and then "Save As," the ones I want to keep to a folder. Dont "Save As," thumbnails or you might finish up with a lot of little pictures and no big ones.

I think it has probably overwritten the pic files as it was probably using the same titles into the same folder. Next time try making a new folder each time you transfer your pics from camera or mem stick. Pete.
