Why not, too many people carry fancy phones as a status symbol - it's a phone for gawds sake. I'm living proof you won't die without carrying 1000 songs about with you or having very poor internet access you'd scream at your internet provider for if that's what you got on your home PC/laptop. And unless you're a teenager, the need to take endless self portraits while out and about ceases to be an issue.
Years ago, some may have carried portable music players about with them, but hardly anyone carried a camera unless it was a hobby of theirs. You lot keep your box of tricks, I just need a phone and the only reason I have an internet capable one with camera, is because I got it cheap and I liked the qwerty keyboard it's got to make texts easier. If I lost it I'd be quite happy with one of those super cheap ones

I just have a very basic phone
I do have an iPod Touch which I use to keep in Wi-Fi contact with my daughter in Australia on various apps.
