Hi, Mikkh,
Just downloaded Puppy Slacko V.5.6 and tried it off a CD. It has several improvements,of which the most useful to me is that it can operate Epson Scanner on Wi-Fi.
I am running the previous version off a USB stick and I would like to install the latest version onto an USB stick, but I am wondering if that is possible without losing data.
Many thanks,
Alex

It depends on whether you have made the USB persistant Have a look at this, it is not directly answering your query but you might find it interesting mobalivecd.mobatek.net/en/Try this to istall to a USB, if the distro allows persistence you should be able to get your pen to save data. www.linuxliveusb.com/

Never done it myself, but apparently replacing the following files from the newer version is all you need to do
vmlinuz initrd.gz pup_xxx.sfs

Thank you Mikkh. I got into a mess attempting to use Win32DiscManager to write the new version onto a USB, which would not boot and all my data disappeared. I then burned a CD with Nero and installed to USB from the CD. I will recover the address book from Windows, so all is now well and working perfectly.
Before I did anything I copied OpenOffice to another USB and then I transferred the file onto the USB with Slacko. I was able to install OpenOffice on the fly, without using my bandwidth with that large download.
Thanks again,
Alex
