Could any one please explain the following, when using the computer occasionally the computer will freeze then shutdown to a black screen and restart at the same point that the freeze happened with no loss to any thing that I might have been doing. The whole process takes about 20/30 seconds,I have kaspersky 2009 installed and have run a virus detection with no adverse results,I have also run ccleaner, atomic cleaner and 1 click maintenance and defragged my hd but none of this has cleared the problem. No new sofware installed, 2gb of crucial memory installed a few months ago,I now have 3.5 gb of crucial memory installed. This fault probably started a couple of weeks after the memory was installed, max memory for my system is 4gb.The problem is very random in that I can be on the computer for a couple of hrs and everthing is ok the next time I can be on for the same length of time it could happen once or 2/3 times. Is it possible for the psu to cause this. regards ray

As it started when you put the extra memory in, it sorta points to that as being the trouble. Are you sure the modules are properly inserted and the clips are right home? If your running a 32 bit system; it wont read more than 3.5 gig anyway, if that. A 64 bit system will read 128 gig if you can find a motherboard with 64 memory slots.
It could be heat related, check that your heat-sink is clean and the fan is running properly. It depends on what your doing at the time it crashes. Some programs will make the processor run hotter than others. If you have a cool and quiet setup on the computer, go into the BIOS and turn it off.
If all else fails it could be the PSU. If its an off the peg computer and you have added PCI cards in the past, it could well be the PSU. These makers don't go over the top when fitting PSUs. If its smaller than 450 watts, I would change it anyway.

I've never put more than 2 GB in any 32 bit machine, I can't see the point either when it interferes with dual channel in odd numbers like you appear to have and there are known problems of a 32 bit windows system addressing above 3 GB of RAM.
Keep the newer 2 GB and remove the older 1.5 is what I'd do
I've had 3 GB in a 32 bit setup before and I could see/feel no difference at all - apart from the page file growing so I removed it

You might find the answer to your problem with your Event Viewer .
Right click My Computer > Manage .

Read the Event Viewer Help to learn what to do with it . You need to double click the warning item to get more detail of the problem .
It might help if you uninstall Pinnacle, use a Reg cleaner, restart and then reinstall Pinnacle .
