I've been changing my old video to dvd but as long as I go straight from roxio program to a dvd I have no problem playing them on tv via dvd player, but if I use windows live movie maker to edit it, it saves it as a windows file and thats where the problem starts, I then change the file with converter lite program to movie clip but my dvd player wont play it, but my computer will. has anyone ever had this problem and how did they get round it. I had this problem when transferring VHS tapes to DVD's, Monty; from what you're saying it's MS moviemaker that's causing your problem. That will save it as a .wmv by default, whereas it really needs to be saved as an .MP4 to avoid huge losses in the recoding process - which is prob'ly why they won't play on your TV-based DVD player. Try saving it as an .MP4 to begin with, or download something like DB PowerAmp to save the original format as an .MP4; what you DON'T want is Moviemaker!!

Movie Maker will do the job, but I cant remember what I do to make playable on a DVD player. I will have to put one together and let you know how to do it. If I go more than 20 minutes without doing something I forget.

Tried Movie Maker but it only plays back on the computer and not on TV, I have just tried DVD maker but got no sound, I did it with Roxie using vhs to dvd software making all the packages I made (16 in all) on the burning list, the problem is it plays continuously with sound but it restarts at every package so I get a brake between every package.
Hope You Get My Gist Monty
