An AMD dual core 6000 CPU is probably the best 'bang per buck' solution at the moment, couple that with a decent AM2+ motherboard so you can upgrade to quad core later and add a Nvidia 9800 GT for about £100, and you have the basis of a decent WOW (World of Warcraft) capable PC.
2 GB of RAM minimum, a 250 GB hard drive minimum and a pretty case to put it all in, should come to over £300 (for the parts)
Your current system (to be brutal) is just not good enough for WOW
If you decide you want 4 GB of RAM, don't forget you'll need a 64 bit OS to take full advantage of it
I think 2 GB coupled with an above average graphics card is good enough myself though

thanks my last comp was from evesham , i dont like the mainbrands, but might go for a mesh or summat similiar. dont have the confidence to self build, but im worried about these specialised companies, going belly up like evesham. at least i know the build to aim for

Probably best if you ask again in sept / october when you are ready to buy . Much will change by then that noone can predict . AM3 will almost certainly be released, DDR3 Ram prices might drop dramatically, Intel might slash the price of their 920s and 940"s. Windows 7 might be about to be released, etc etc. Vista is known to not want to play nicely with many nVidia GPU'S and the system requirements for WOW are well within the capabilities of your hardware in Win XP . If you have a copy of XP to install it could well be worth your while to give it a try and use that until you are ready to upgrade. I checked out the Mesh site and thought their prices a bit over the top, this mob appear to be considerably cheaper as they deal with a very clued up clientele . Edit. Nearly forgot, check out the forums at the bottom of the page. www.overclockers.co.uk/thisweek.php?utm_source=forums&utm_medium=banner

I compared Overclockers prices to Scan. com Roo, who I've been using. The prices are about the same. Scan are really good on their dispatch and delivery. You order one day and City Deliveries or whatever they call themselves, are banging on your door the next morning. I use Paypal as soon as I order and within an hour I get an email to say its been dispatched along with a tracking number.

Yeah, that looks more like it . Mesh appear to be more into selling complete systems than Components. I found it a bit odd that Overclockers U.K was attached to a retail site, but it does not appear to be a bad thing . I had no idea where to look in the U.K for best Computer Hardware prices so i just did a bit of Googling . The Oz Overclockers site is well worth a squiz if you have nothing better to do sometime, You can't view all the Forums unless you join up, but they have everything from computers to cooking . It has nearly 13,000 active members. forums.overclockers.com.au/?Hardware prices in Oz have increased dramatically since the bum fell out of the Aussie Dollar . i.e The price of a E8400 got down to around $180 when the Oz Dollars had near parity with the U.S Dollar . Now that it is only worth about 65 Cents U.S the E8400 is around $260, so i'm not planning on buying anything new in the near future, especially with all the new hardware that is going to be released this year .
