I have added some more Smileys and realized that when you click Reply (or starting a new thread) NOT quick reply,
the posting area is set on BBCode---->look below left when you are about to post a message, - so that you can't see the actual pictures in the posting area, just the letters....

Click on the Visual tab instead and you will see the smiley pictures and also anything else you have posted in it's correct 'visual' format.
I suppose this works like Preview did in V4
