I don't know if you remember but I had problems with updating xp so I had a go at downloading Linux, started of with Ubuntu, put it on the computer did a install but it wouldn't boot properly, so had a go at mint and it went in with no problems, I'm very surprised at the system Bluetooth webcam ms office documents Skype and many more all working, did have a problem installing but got round it, over 1000 updates with no problems, do I have to have a firewall or anti-virus software ?

Glad it all went well for you most things work with Linux Mint if not you can always get a plugin for it Mikkh know what i need if i can't work it out.
"do I have to have a firewall or anti-virus software" no But if you want one ant-virus and a firewall are there if you want to have one and if you have a route you don need one as it has it's own firewall.
