Found this: www.pcdecrapifier.com/homeAny comments? Apparently it's free and was recommended by PC Pitstop. MajorGeeks is hosting the download.

Yeah it's OK, it's meant for brand new PC's/laptops to get rid of the usual suspects most manufacturers seem to put on them. It's been a while since I tried it and it played it a bit too safe for my liking, but for people nervous about changing things it's a starting point to a less bloated PC

Thank you mikkh.
I was hoping it would be kosher. Good to know about.
I ran it and it flagged four on mine: NvCplDaemon; NvMediaCenter; nwiz and Sun Java Updater
Though to be fair, I've had my machine a while now.

Looks optional
PC Decrapifier Personal Use Subscription
$5.00 SKU: PCDC-PU
The PC Decrapifier is absolutely free for personal use. However if you have found this tool very helpful and would like to show your appreciation, you may consider this personal use, one year subscription to pcdecrapifier.com. This is a great way to make a donation to this product.
I haven't installed it for a while so I don't know if this a new development. It's usefulness on a PC that is not brand new is limited because it mostly targets the trial versions of virus checkers, Office suites etc that get bundled with new PC's

Jojo - the four it mentioned are things I would take off myself, but only for completeness. They're not big resource hogs like 'ituneshelper' and all the extra guff Adobe acrobat puts on. All the N and NV stuff relates to an Nvidia graphics card with NVCPL meaning Nvidia control panel applet, a feature still available through the cards properties anyway so all three are pretty redundant
The Sun Java updater is pretty self explanatory, it just checks for newer versions and would only be a nuisance if it checked too regularly, like every few minutes as some updaters do. On the average PC there's at least 4 or 5 'updaters' running all the time, which is similar to 5 kids on a long journey asking are we there yet contstantly

I kinda figured out a while ago, what those were for mikkh. Thanks for the advice, as always.
I have been cautious about removing or fiddling with anything to do with my graphics cards incase the screen disappears!
I did once try to use a facility to turn the screen sideway. Sadly, the mouse wasn't told and I had a terrible job trying to put it back, having to transpose a side movement with an up down and so on.

To register and install Optimizer Pro charge is $34.95 about £22-50. Found 2824 errors that will slow PC down, but to clear these they need payment. I scan once a week so don't have any nasties, just lots of unnecessary files so PC is running very slow. Hopefully someone can tell me its safe to purchase. Tuesday

There are rogue versions of pc optimiser pro and it looks like you have one Tuesday - you need to get rid of it. In fact I don't think there's a genuine one at all - it's a virus/malware Do not use any of these so called optimisers, they either don't work or do the opposite - slow you down Try MBAM as suggested by Buzzy in post 11 or you may need to run combofix to fully eradicate it download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

Thanks for all your help, in the end had to take PC in to get all the problems sorted as i'd downloaded something that was not genuine. It was running very slow even the mouse refused to move, but I'm pleased to say it now seems to be running OK. Tuesday

Really sorry to hear that Tuesday.
We all hear the warnings, especially on CIT. We even sometimes memorise some of the worst offenders. Yet I'm sure all of us get caught out now and again. That's why these creeps still do it.
A good friend got caught by that scam a while ago, when people would phone up, offering to optimise their PCs.
My sister-in-law ended up stuck with an expensive picture of a time share after our nephew downloaded something. I suggested he was probably looking at porn. She replied. 'But he's only 13!'
Bless her cotton socks.

Tuesday, just to remind you to always try the restore to a previous date, for when getting problems like that, cos when it works it is very helpful. Saves paying others to fix it for you.
