Downloaded Linux Mint-13-Cinnamon (Maya) and saved it to HD. I burned it to a DVD and tried it. Looked good. I even got the printer to work, but I cheated by connecting it with USB lead rather then WiFi. I then unplugged the two HD with Windows and connected an old 10GB HD and installed Maya onto it.
At the end of the installation the computer froze when I tried to restart, so I tried soft-reboot. It would not boot from HD. I got the error message "Out of Reach" on the monitor. I suspect that that is the BIOS message.
Any suggestion would be welcome, but I am back on safe ground with WinXP SP3.
Many Thanks,
Alex
