Is there anyone who can speak with authority in straight simple language about whether Firefox is more secure that Chrome. No bickering please
Regards (still)

I do not use Chrome, but I do use Firefox and can only say that I have had no problems using FF, but I have not heard anything bad about Chrome either security-wise. Not sure if anyone here is a regular Chrome user, so we shall wait and see if you get some more information.

Good link Jorg and no surprises there - IE and Safari were swiftly compromised by experienced hackers! Firefox is more secure IMO because of it's myriad of add-ons - A sometimes confusing array for inexperienced users The informed choice is to use 'noscript' if you want the ultimate security in Firefox There are 2 Billion+ add-ons addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collections/mozilla/bestof2billion/

NoScript provides extra protection for your Mozilla, Firefox, or Flock browser. This extension allows JavaScript and Java execution only for trusted domains of your choice. This white list based pre-emptive script blocking approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities with no loss of functionality. You can enable JavaScript or Java execution for sites you trust with a simple left-click on the NoScript status bar icon or using the context menu in pop-up status bar.

Press ctrl+shift+A to access the addons manager
put noscript in the search box
It basically stops web pages running scripts, which is how a lot of infections get installed on dodgy sites
