I use Sea Monkey as my browser in Puppy and it is flashing to tell me that I should update to a newer version. There is no Synaptic in Puppy and Slickpet does not show Sea Monkey as available. There is a "Shell" icon, but I have forgotten the commands to install new software.
I downloaded Sea Monkey 2.6.1 and it did not install automatically, so how does one get updates in Puppy?
Happy New Year.

Puppy deliberately don't offer the latest versions for maximum compatibility with older systems. Depending which version you have (there are dozens) you can enable Ubuntu repositories in the 'Lupu' versions for a bit more scope in available software packages. There is also a version called Slacko which can use Slackware packages distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-5.2.8/lupu-528.iso

Thank you Mikkh. I am happy not to update Puppy, because it works so well, but I would like to turn off the flashing reminder if I could. I will download lupu just to satisfy my curiosity.
Thanks again,
Alex
