We all need bits and peices for our computers it might be a cable or a dvd drive why dont we have a place where we can help each other, a small donation to a charity or pay for postage but not selling items like ebay otherwise it might be taken over by salepeople

We weren't keen on this idea via MSN Groups, but I guess you could 'talk' amongst yourselves when you have an item going spare or are in need of something. As for privacy, when any of you get to the stage of swapping or donating something to each other, then you could use the PM service here or perhaps the chatroom? That way, personal emails/home addresses will not be divulged on the boards.

Sounds good, but only after trying the local Freecycle site for me.

I've got a houseful of computer bits - more than a lot of shops I reckon
Give me a shout, and I'll ignore you
No I won't lol, I'll sort you out if I can, but I don't have any spare laptops or 22" wide screen TFT monitors and I'm right out of 500 GB hard drives at the moment!
Older stuff like AGP graphics cards, network cards etc I got plenty of

I have got a spare laptop that anyone can have for the price of the postage. It's an old laptop I was given a few years ago and the intention was to refurbish it but to be quite honest I've left it that long it's not worth bothering about now.
It's a Dell Latitude Cpi D300XT and has had a corporate strip out so there's no hard drive, memory, floppy drive, battery or adapter.
It does still have the CD drive though.
The screen is cosmetically fine just needing a clean but for obvious reasons I don't know if it's actually working ok or not.
Cosmetic damage - no memory cover, screen doesn't catch when you close it, has 1 CTRL button missing, casing has a couple of superficial scratches but is in better nick than most newer laptops I've been called out to fix.
Originally run on Windows '95
Has a carry case thats more of a sleeve with a velcro strap for holding it kinda closed, and no carry handles oh how times change lol this case has a large white scrape mark on 1 side and some splashes of paint on the other side.
It would suit someone who is starting out in laptop repairs and needing some practice dismantling them or perhaps someone who is looking for spares for this type of laptop.
I can arrange some pics if anyones interested
edit: now gone to a good home
