I have decided to try out this new board so that we can offer each other tips to save money.
This board is not to be used for selling items between ourselves |
So if any of you have tips to offer, please tell us all about them or if you already use something mentioned on this board, please add your review/feedback

I like a nice chilled salad with radishes and hard boiled eggies. I like playing Scrabble, too.

I've got a 19" CRT monitor for sale. If I can get a few quid it will save me from spending money on petrol in the Bentley to take it down the dump.

Never shop for groceries on an empty stomach. You buy all manner of stuff you didn't want or need when you're hungry. Have a sandwich or a snack first to focus your mind.

I used to use the banks to save money, but now I have lost interest. (joke) or not.

I used confused.com to get quotes then got a cheaper offer going directly to diamond
You could also try comparethemarket.com moneysupermarket.com or gocompare.com but I'm not sure if they all check the exact same companies or if each of them may have 1 or 2 that differ from the others.

Also then check whether you can get more money off, by looking at cashback sites to see if they have the insurer as one of their merchants....Quidco, TopCashBack, CashbackKings, GiveorTake or WebPromiseto.

yeah you have to be careful with any type of insurance cover to make sure you aren't over insured.
I had a medical type one that paid back for dental, opticians etc etc. When I bought it I told them that even though I was working I did have an NHS entitlement card. They told me that was great because my policy would pay me the amounts due even if my NHS card covered the costs. NOT TRUE
When I tried to make a claim I was told I needed reciepts, explaining about my card I was then told that it exempted my claim. There were parts of the policy that would pay out but those were covered by another policy I had so I cancelled the medical policy.
back to the car insurance, tesco are offering clubcard holders £50 cashback if they buy tesco car insurance before April this year so it would be worth your friend checking that out. It's been a good few years since I got a tesco quote but when I did it was over twice as expensive as most of the other quotes, they may be cheaper now though.

i joined freecycle today (pending approval) people offer things and that is in various threads and then a seperate message board displays what people want. which is fine in principle and very laudable. But the disparity between what people want and what is offered is quite amusing. i.e wanted job lot of cds\books . offered old monitors and printers etc . still you never know someone might offer me an i-phone

I joined Direct Line this year, but they are the devil to get hold of if you have a problem. You listen to the sane dreary music for ever and ever and that's if you are still in the queue. Fine if you don't have to contact them.
