Had an unsolicited suspicious phone call today form a company called "Online OPC Security" the guy was an Indian called Ricky Read.Their Phone Number is 01274 790085 they said that they are contacting all Windows Users worldwide to perform a free online check to determine why Windows is running slow.
They said they would phone me back tomorrow morning about 11.00am needless to say I will not be giving them access to my PC to perform this Online Test.
Has anyone else had a ponecafrom this crowd or heard anything about them.

Or they just go through the phone book, or a list sold to them by people who have lists; it's easy to gather a list of emails, or phone numbers.
Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

Its certainly a scam - if you do what the caller does they get you to sit at PC and they get you to browse to certain folders in Windows and then tell you that there is a problem which requires a special fix program which you can download (they give you the URL) the download page wants you to pay (Of Course thats what they scamming you for and to get your credit card number) In certain instances they get you to delete a file in windows which immediately causes a problem which of course they will fix. sometimes they do say that they are from microsoft who are ringing all users (How many billion calls ?? they must be using the whole of India as a call centre)
If you say you dont have a PC then they say sorry and then ring the next person to try and dupe.

Thanks everyone.
He did call but was so patronising that I finished up giving him a mouthfull. He was another Indian and I couldn't understand half of what he said (apologies to anybody of Indian decent here).
I hung up pon him twice but he rang back.
