Nah, I can't see the point to be honest either. And this may be a sweeping broad generalisation (but mostly true) Anyone on 20 Mb or contemplating 50 Mb has either more money than sense, or does a lot of file-sharing - present company excepted of course.
I have a 10 Mb connection and I do download a lot of Linux stuff, but I'm happy enough at the speed it's coming down, with a typical CD ISO taking half an hour or less - and a DVD ISO taking a couple of hours on Utorrent.
I really can't justify the cost of a 20 Mb or 50 Mb connection myself

hi guys it's available in our area too, but like mikkh i really don't find the need for 50mb download speed, i'm quite happy with the speed i can download cd's etc at, and the price i already pay for the service suits me also so as much as i like pc's, justifying the cost to my missus would be a non starter

As long as I can get itno CIT etc and work on my other stuff, the rest is overkill; I upgraded from 2 to 10 and can't see the difference.

I agree, I'm happy with 20MB, it's fast enough for everything available

I tend to agree with the majority of answers to the question. I have been with Virgin (or NTL) as they once were for years and have always been satisfied with them When I first joined them, the word "Broadband," was never heard of. All one had was a "Cable Modem." I too have no intention of paying for 50mb downloading.

Same here after being with virgin media for the last five years it really get's to me when i can see offering new customers the same services that i have for far less, After me paying them well over £60 a month loyaly seems to mean nothing at all to them.
I dont know how much extra this new 50 mb will cost But were i am concerned they count me out they dont call me misrable for nothing

You are lucky over there. Over here the 50Mb is $139.00/month. (ƒ95.00). LOL

Has anybody tried complaining about the price yet, to see if they will offer a 'deal'?

I would love virgin here but there is no cable in our half of the street they seemed to run it up to the lane then stop before my block, just my luck o ;)h to get as fast as 20mb. that would be good.

Ring 150 and go to the I'm thinking of leaving bit, Tell them your unhappy at what new customers are getting and what your paying now, You'll be surprised at what they offer you Remember though that it will tie you into another 12 months contract, Also they will not offer the 50MB, But will either lower your bill or offer upgrades infact they will usually offer you upgrades and lower your bill at the same time so it's win win Let me know if any of you manage to blag a good deal out of them. jk.

hi jk my wife did that last year, saying that we had a better offer from sky, when asked what sky had quoted, she said £54, a minute or 2 later the rep on the phone said they would match that and have done since, cutting the bill by almost 50%, if you don't ask, you don't get. jim

I wrote to them and complained about the poor service as our old set top box appeared to be on the way out, but nobody wanted to know.
I got a call back within days. We made an appointment to have our box checked - in fact he just changed it. I was also offered a free upgrade from 2 to 10 (pleanty for me) and free evening and weekend calls to any landline in the UK; pity our son is in the USA, but we've got a deal on that elsewhere.

My contract with Vodafone is up and I want a Virgin mobile, well sim card. I will keep my own phone. I'm going to ask for a deal and if they say no, I will tell them to cut my BB to the minimum. I expect they will offer me a deal when I say that. I would cut my XL TV as well, but then they would catch me for a fiver a month for my V-Box. I would get rid of my phone, but my mum phones me a lot and it would cost her a fortune phoning my mobile. I never use my phone, except for incoming calls and phoning Windows. I would never be able to punch in all them numbers on a mobile.

Unfortunately I don't live in a cabled area so I got to stick with old fashioned copper wire! I'm not in an LLU area either so I have to pay the earth. I'm with tiscali and pay £14.99 for their 8gb package. I don't even get 8gb, only 3gb

My connection seems a lot slower this evening, I was downloading adobe reader 35mb odd, and it took absolutely ages. I am supposed to be on 2 something download speed.

I'm on 60Mb/sec now and my wife is using a Wireless Puter via the same Superhub. I am getting 31.5Mb D/Load and 3Mb U/Load speeds so I am not unhappy. The new 60M/Bit upgrade is free as I was originaly on 20M/bit but Virgin first upgraded me to 30M/bit and then 60M/bit.
At the time of the last upgrade me they also gave me a free HD Topbox for the TV as I had complained to them about the deals being offered to new customers whilst loyal customers like me are ignored.

I am due to have my new 'super hub' fitted next Saturday. I am wanting to have both my desktop computers connected to the hub via an Ethernet cable which I hope they can do???
Also I have a Samsung Galaxy 2 smart phone, so I assume I will be able to connect 'wirelessly' from phone to hub at no cost as part of the package???
Any thoughts welcome

My thoughts are....we have the Super-hub (fitted ourselves) runs two desktops and on Wi-Fi, two laptops, an iPhone, a Samsung Android and an iPod Touch...no extra charges and we can allow anyone else we like on Wi-Fi

Thanks for the info Lynnrose.
I thought that would be the case but wanted to be well armed prior to the hub fitment.
