I shouldn't think so, they were only up to version 5 when I checked 2 minutes ago. Version 5.0.677 to be precise.

Yep I recently updated mine and that is the version I have. Sure you don't mean AVG, that might be around version 8, although I think they have moved to numbering it in years now? Just a thought.

I dont think AVG ever brought out an 8. They went 7, 7.5 and then insane with their Security Suite 2008 or what ever it was in 2007. I think it must have been about 3 years ago when they broke it.

There was an 8 an 8.5 and a 9 before the current crop which calls itself AVG 2011
Avast (orange icon as opposed to blue icon in 4.xx versions) is definitely 5 though

Didn't they start adding the bits and pieces after 7.5 Mikk??? I know that was when it started bogging things down.

I can't remember to be honest - I just looked on 'oldapps' www.oldapps.com/AVG_antivirus.phpI was never a huge fan of AVG but I used to install it for other people more as a placebo than a genuine belief in it's virus detecting abilities - it was never on my PC's EZtrust or Kaspersky were the ones I used to use Avast I genuinely believe in though, I'm certainly getting less call outs to people I've installed it for anyway. Guess I'll have to start putting AVG back on to drum up more business

I never used AVG either. I used McAfee and then they upgraded. Like a lot of others it became next to useless and I then used EZ. When XP 64 first surfaced in BETA, only Avast had an antivirus for 64 bit. I continued to use EZ on 32 bit, but later installed Avast on everything. So I have been using Avast for quite a few years now. When I was with the WEA, I tried to get the tutor to change. Old habits die hard and he continued to install AVG on everything. He was telling the students one thing and I was telling them something else.
