Hi, Since I updated from Avast 4 to Avast 5.0.418 last night I am getting an error message "C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashOutXt.dll" cannot be loaded, every time I start Outlook ( part of Office 2000). Clicking <OK> in the message allows normal working to resume.
Is there some way to get rid of this annoying feature? I have tried Repairing Office 2000, but the error message persists.
Many thanks,
Alex

Have a look in Program Files, Alwil Folder and remove anything with Avast 4 on it. There is something that is trying to start the old Avast. Download and run C Cleaner, hopefully that will get rid of any files left over from the old version.

Thanks for that Ken. There is nothing in the system called Avast 4, but I suspect that it was installed as an add-on in Outlook and I don't know how to remove it.
Where can I find this C Cleaner?
Thanks again,
Alex

Download the latest one in the top right hand corner Alex. www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/I suspect your right, and there is a addon in Outlook. I dont know about Office 2000, it too long since I used it. Im using Office 2010 and I didnt have any problem with it, when I upgraded the Avast. Have a look in Outlook Properties, it should tell you anything thats been added on. If C Cleaner dont fix it and you cant find another way, uninstall Outlook, reboot and run C Cleaner before reinstalling. That way it should get rid of the files and the addon wont be there.

I just had a look and you might be looking at the wrong end if your using Hotmail. In Hotmail, go into Tools and it lists extensions. If there is an Outlook extension, delete it and then Outlook should update and make a new one with Avast 5's knowledge. If your not using Hotmail, Tuff.

I am using Windows Live Hotmail and there is nothing in Tools that lists extensions. I have uninstalled Office 2000 and then reinstalled it and the problem is still there. I do wish now that I had not updated Avast.
Thanks again,
Alex
