Print server netgear WGPS606 worked ok till I got a new wireless modem, now I have to connect the computer useing an ethernet cable to the modem and another from the modem to the print server, I can print without the computer on with my laptop wirelessly, but I can't take the ethernet cable between the server and modem away, I had to manually install the print server to the system, when installing with the cd rom it finds the print server then the printer but no wireless connection between modem and print server, I have tried the old modem with the same results. Hope you get my problem Monty

Make sure the encryption on the router and the print server are the same Monty and have the same key. If one is WEP and one is WPA it wont work. It doesn't matter what encryption you have set up as long as they are the same.
You have to run the software on the computers before connecting the server.
The default IP of the server is 192.168.0.102, if you need it.

Done all that, still wont connect wirelessly, it's will only work wired, if the wireless part of the print server has packed up would that be the answer? the laptop goes into the modem then to the print server so thats working ok provided I have it wired

Well that would be the obvious answer Monty, but I think we might be missing something somewhere. I haven't used a print server for years and I'm out of touch with these new ones. My printer connects to my router and everything is controlled by that, both wired and wireless. You have got an extra spoke in the wheel. I've had a look at the manual for yours and I can't see what your missing, so it could be the wireless. Have you tried resetting it and starting again?? Sometimes that work better than trying to find where you've gone wrong.

Going to start again as you suggested will check everything from wep to wap, encriptions, wires, I will try and let you know results asp. one small problem was the ip on the server is 0.1 at the end and the moden is 1.1 at the end, they are both the the same now and it works with a wire but not wireless.

Set it as 192.168.0.02 Monty, thats your trouble. It has to be different, your computers are contacting the modem instead of the server. You cant have 2 devices with the same address. The only address that stays the same, is the external address from the ISP. Everything inside the modem has to be a little bit different. Its like your house is in the same street as the other houses, but they have all got a different number.

Sorry, when I say they have the same address the modem finishes with 1.1 and the server finnishes with 1.102 I thought the modem and server had to be the same ip except for the last number to make them talk to each other.

Thats right Monty, if the modem is 1,1 the server should be 1.2 or 1.3. As long as nothing else has got that number. The first 3 are the same, 192.168 are standard internal network numbers. The 3rd one is your network, the 4th is the number of the device and they all have to be different.

Gone through it again without success, the dame thing works ok wired so thats that, I can still print with the laptop wirelessly. If at any time I can sort it out and get it to work properly I will let you know.
Thanks for having a go.

Your welcome Monty, but have a word with them in the shop. They might know something that I've overlooked. If there is a sneaky trick, you wont be the first to ask them about it.
