I use avast free version which has kept me virus free for the last couple of years. Today every website I go onto (including every page of CIT) flags a pop up from Avast say 'Malicious URL' and the nice American voice says 'Threat has been detected'.
Never happened before....any ideas.
It just so happens that if I follow the link on the Avast warning 'More about this threat' then it takes me to the Avast site were they offer to upgrade me to the full AV package for £29........coincidence or creative marketing?

I had this problem last week for just that day. I did a scan with Avast, SAS and MBAM. The Avast program threw up (allegedly) 51 threats, which I assumed to be hardly likely so I completed all the usual routines and everything has been OK since, so far.

I haven't had that - probably needs the 'webrep' module cancelling
I have noticed it's a lot greedier than previous versions and have switched to Avira on my other PC's which are not exactly cutting edge technology

I had to have a look to see what version I had running and its 6. I seem to remember clicking to update it, but didn't look to see what I was updating to. Not had any funny behaviour out of it. It just sits in the corner and tells me its updated itself every now and again.

Nice to see others have experienced the same (if you know what I mean?). Coming back onto CIT now the pop up warning didn't appear so maybe after the last update (mine is set to do so automatically) it changed some settings and as I visit my normal round of sites it is learning that they are OK and are where I intended to go? Well that is what I am hoping anyway.
