Different anyway and it would appeal to us Carp anglers who always remove our watches before picking a big Carp up for a photo - to stop it possibly damaging the fish

I thought battering and frying damaged them anyway Mikk, if it doesn't they are slightly damaged after passing through the body.

You'd get battered if you harmed one. Carp fishing is big business and a 30 pounder would cost at least £500 to replace, so fishery owners aren't too keen if you damage them in any way.
Carp anglers carry big foam padded mats (with a waterproof outer) to lay the fish on while unhooking them, special fish antiseptic to treat any wounds with, and return them lovingly to the water ASAP. It's quite a strange ritual to an outsider, but us Carp anglers are strange people

I prefer cod lovingly wrapped with chips in white paper with antiseptic salt and vinegar to treat its wounds. Carp might be over 16 quid a pound but it tastes horrible.

Ken - even better wrapped in newspaper, the printing ink gives it that extra piquancy. Should I use a different word there so Elvis can understand it? ;D

I agree 100% Buzzy, fish and chips have never been the same since they made newspaper wrapping illegal. Even the little greaseproof pieces they started to use inside the newspaper, before it was outlawed it totally degraded the product. The old newsprint was full of iron and particulary beneficial to your health as well. Just look how the kids of today are turning out, useless and its all down to lack of newsprint in their diet.

"Should I use a different word there so Elvis can understand it?" are you implying something Buzzy?

My husband is a carp angler, he lices and breaths it.. goes away for a week at a time to fish, he treats the fishe better than me.. he has been doing this for 30 years.. I think he is crazy, I could put the money he spends to much better use.. Spinney
